Your provider has recommended you for Xtrac laser treatments. The following information is what you can expect before, during and after treatments. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office and ask before treatments begin.
- Our office will contact your insurance carrier to find out if the treatment requires prior authorization and if so, we will submit your medical notes to comply with medical necessity in order to obtain the proper authorization. This process can take approximately 2 weeks to obtain. Although the service may be approved, you will be responsible for any Co-Pays, Deductibles and Co-Insurance once the claim is processed by your insurance carrier according to your plan benefits for each visit.
- If you have a deductible with your insurance carrier, you will be contacted by our billing department to notify you of the amount left to be satisfied and you will be required to pre-pay $100 at each visit. This amount will be applied to your balance until we are notified that your deductible has been met. Any remaining patient responsibility above the pre-pay amount will be billed to you. In addition to your deductible, all patients will be responsible for any copays and coinsurance after your claim is processed. You will be billed for any remaining patient responsibility. Please understand that you may have several treatments before we receive notification from your insurance carrier as to how the claims are being processed and, as a result, you might accrue a substantial balance before receiving a statement. If you are unable to pay your statement balance in full, you must contact the billing department to make payment arrangements.
- It can take 8 – 12 laser sessions to treat most patients skin conditions; usually 2 sessions per week for 4-6 weeks (more for Vitiligo treatments).
- The Xtrac laser is an intense beam of light that gets rid of the cells causing the skin condition.
- The treatment does not hurt. After the treatment, it can make the skin more pink-to-red, much like a mild sunburn. Rarely, it can be very red and make a blister.
- If a blister forms, do not pop it. Just leave it alone. The next laser session will just treat around it.
- The more red the reaction, the faster the laser works to treat the skin condition.
- Continue your current treatments along with the laser – this makes it work even faster.
- Wipe off all medications and sunscreen on the area to be treated before your session.
- Some patients may do maintenance treatments every few weeks or so after the sessions, if they note the skin condition is starting to recur.
- Once clear, the skin condition can be gone for up to 6 months.
